Brief History of Nahata clan: Nahatas are one of the many branches of Oswal community. Nahata means someone who would not leave his place (Apni Jagah Se Na Haate) in the battlefield. The ancestors of Nahatas were famous for their valour. They personified the old maxim of ‘when things get tough only tough gets going.’ It is believed that Nahatas could not be cowed down and no matter how tough or adverse the condition was, once enter the war; they could not be removed from their position.
Agarchand Nahata’s great grand father Gumanmal ji worked on a top position in the Bikaner princely state about 150 years ago. He was rich and respected. However, due to some misunderstanding with the ruler Maharaja Surat Singh, he shifted his base to Kanasar village. It did not take long for him to set up a successful business, however in a tragic fire incident everything was destroyed. Seth Gumanmal left the place believing it to be inauspicious and finally settled in Dandusar. He had two sons Tarachand and Jaitroop. Jaitroop had four sons Udaychand, Rajroop, Devchandra and Budhmal. Rajroop who was grand father of Agarchand, had five sons. Lakshmichand, Shankardan who was Agarchand’s father, Daanmal and Girdharimal. Shankardan had eight children including six sons and two daughters.
